LIBRARY & INFORMATION SERVICES  

The Library & Information Services division provides the information system which is taken care of by efficient library staff. At present, there are more than 21000 books and 57 subscribed journals in the library. Institute has its own website, http://www.nih.nic.in developed in the year 2002. Current Awareness Services (CAS) and Flash (Internet information on homoeopathy world) are provided and partial automation has been achieved through WINISIS software and newly launched LIBSYS software for total automation of library documents. One archive for rare books, including some rare non-English (German, Spanish etc.) books, is available as reference books.

 

Selective Dissemination (SDI) service, a bi-monthly compilation of the contents of the current journals, subscribed by the Institute is published regularly. Reprography, binding, photography, A/V etc., are also provided. Five PG Departmental Libraries were set up with the help of the Central Library & Information Service Department. Presently all the UG departments also have Departmental Library.

Automation

Department of Library & Information services have computerized the books, holding of periodicals and Flash (micro document) Services except circulation services of the department. Developing three databases on holding of periodical, bibliographical information of books and INTERNET information (Flash) through WINISIS (CDS/ISIS) software, which is free of cost developed by UNESCO. LIBSYS software was introduced to the central library for speedy disposal of library automation work in near future.

Publication/Printing work

Editing and all secretarial jobs to compile the Annual Report, Bulletin.

The National Institute of Homoeopathy publishes a Quarterly Bulletin which incorporates scientific articles by the faculty members, post-graduate trainees, interns, other students and distinguished guest authors. The Bulletin received the International Scientific Serial Number (ISSN 0972-6276) in 2002. Till date, Issue up to Volume 17 Number 3 of the bulletin has been published. Bulletin is also available on subscription basis. Department also process all printing related work of the Institute. Printing Bulletin, Prospectus (UG & PG), Annual Report, Pamphlets, Syllabus and other documents as on demand through selected printer.
