The Library & Information Service
Division was established in 1976 to act as an aid for the development of
research and training in Homoeopathy.
The Library constitute a major
resource for learning, teaching and research. The Library has created
computerized database on micro - documents of Homoeopathy. Internet Service
facility is also available in this division. It also provides reprographic
services as well as Current Awareness Services(CAS) to its readers. Loose
Journals and reference books are not lent out. It also provides inter -
library - loan services and audio - visual services to its readers. Selective
Dissemination of Information (SDI) service, reprography, binding, photography,
videography, etc. are provided.
The Library remains open during
college hours. It has open access. The reading room facility is made available
to both inside and outside readers. The Library also gives its reference
service through direct reference tools and text service for advancement of
learning. It has the necessary infrastructure and facilities including
electronic information systems to meet the requirements of all students /
researchers / faculty members of the Institute and outside people.
The book collection is classified
according to the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), while the classified
Catalogue Code (CCC) are used for cataloguing.
Automation:
Department of Library & Information services are computerized the books,
holding of periodicals and Flash (micro document) Services except circulation
services of the department. Developing three databases on holding of
periodical, bibliographical information of books and INTERNET information
(Flash) through WINISIS (CDS/ISIS) software, which is free of cost developed
by UNESCO. Recently LIBSYS software was introduced to the central library for
speedy disposal of library automation work in near future.
