The Institute is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and is
duly recognised by Central Council of Homoeopathy, to conduct regular under - graduate and post -
graduate courses in Homoeopathy viz Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery [B.H.M.S.] and Doctor of Medicine in Homoeopathy [M.D.(Hom)].
The Institute is also engaged in conducting Teacher's and Physician's
Orientation Training Courses [TOTC & POTC] of 1 month duration in different subjects of Homoeopathy from time to time.

The BHMS course is of five and half year's duration (including one year compulsory internship) and was started in December, 1987. Students possessing Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent qualification with five subjects viz. English, Physics, Chemistry & Biology recognised by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences are eligible for admission. (qualification awarded by Open School and Open University are not eligible for admission as per the University) Fifty seats are available every year among which 18 seats are alloted to those candidates who are nominated from States and Union Territories where no Homoeopathic colleges exists. Thirty candidates get admission on the basis of All India Admission Test and the rest two seats are reserved for foreign nationals who are nominated by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
Doctor of Medicine in Homoeopathy [M.D.(Hom.)] | |
The Institute has Post Graduate Degree Course in Homoeopathy
i.e Doctor of Medicine in Homoeopathy M.D.(Hom.), which is a full-time regular & residential course, now under the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and permitted by the Central Council of Homoeopathy.
It has six subjects of Specialisation viz
1. Organon of Medicine with Homoeopathic Philosophy
2. Repertory
3. Homoeopathic Materia Medica including Applied aspects.
4. Practice of Medicne
5. Homoeopathic pharmacy
6. Paediatrics
A Candidate for MD(Hom.) shall opt any of the above-mentioned special subjects as his / her speciality at the time of counseling, as per availability.
The course shall be of three years duration, including one year of house-job,
during which the candidate shall be a resident in the campus and shall be given training as per the
provisions of sub-regulation (2) of regulation 1010.
Total 36 (Thirty-six) seats are available, out of which 9 (Nine) seats are available in each discipline of Materia Medica, Repertory & Organon and 3 (three)seats are available in each subject of Practice of Medicne, Homoeopathic Pharmacy and Paediatrics. Degree Holders in Homoeopathy [B.H.M.S.] are eligible
for admission through an All India Admission Test conducted by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences.
